Wait, what's a doula?

A Birth Doula provides ongoing information, Positioning assistance during labor, emotional and physical support to women before birth, during labor and the birth and in the period immediately afterward. A doula is not a medical person she is not a doctor, nurse or midwife. Instead, she is there just for the support of the mother and her partner. She can also assist the mother in developing a Birth Plan, and help communicate with medical staff.

"We are, indeed, fully prepared to believe that the bearing of children may and ought to become as free from danger and long debility to the civilized woman as it is to the savage." ~ Thomas Huxley
